One Fine Spring Morning

I realized when I woke up this morning that plans to work in the garden today were not going to be realized, due to the 5½ inches of rain we’d seen in our rain gauge the last 2 days. So I decided to to take a hike…to the arboretum.

Dew Droplets on the bright green grass.

Early morning is the best part of the day, at least for me.

There's always a fungus to find on my walks.

The day was bright with potential.

I stepped off the path to frame a photo of a burbling brook, filled with yesterday's rain.

When I stepped back on the path and turned around, I was stunned. There was a sandhill crane, close enough he could have tapped me on the back if he wanted to. Then I realized, this was not an ordinary spring morning.

Further along the patch, a whirlpool in a pond of run-off.

The birds were singing brightly in the early morning skies.

Colorful spring flowers were bursting into bloom all over.

Turkeys in the arboretum were showing off.

All good things come to an end, even trees...freshly cut with their annual rings on display.
