The view from the observation towers atop Blue Mounds State Park is magnificent, especially on a clear day. I made several visits to the park in June.

I’ve explored several of the trails and the unique geological formations of the park. During one visit we had a conversation with the park naturalist, who informed us that Blue Mound was an oak savannah at the time of European settlement in the 19th century. Today it’s totally wooded.

Our second trip back to the park was to view a performance of The Summit Players, a nonprofit acting troupe.
