One of my goals for this summer was to bike out into the countryside early on weekend mornings. So far I’ve made it once early in the summer and twice in August, and enjoyed some peaceful beauty each ride.

In between the two morning rides this month, I visited the Polk Farm Conservancy’s annual explosion of sunflowers.
Crowds of people come to have their photos taken in the cheerful explosion of color.

You never know what you’re going to see at the Farmers Market. It might be a 5-year old stilt walker.
It’s the last quiet Saturday morning on the University of Wisconsin campus. Thousands of new students will be moving in during the next few days.
