Last winter I began thinking about a road trip to Idaho to visit our son Drew and his family. Then when he told us they had decided to move back to Georgia, I knew time was running out to visit Idaho. So I volunteered to help with the move. That resulted in an epic road trip involving 1700 train miles, about 2600 truck miles, 1150 air miles, and 300 car miles for a grand total of about 5750 miles, through 14 states in 12 days. (For comparison purposes, NY to LA and back is 5600 miles.)
In the first post of this series, I detailed my cross country train ride. This is the Idaho portion of the trip.
First thing, Eden & I put the puzzle together, the map showing the states we would soon be seeing.
Eden does crossword puzzles.
She doesn’t solve them, she colors them.
Then it was off to finish cleaning out the old apartment.
Anchor House, run by Idaho Youth Ranch, where Drew has been working.
The next day I started with an early morning walk around the neighborhood.
Lots of irrigation going on, its very dry.
Out for breakfast, Candess helps Eden with some more coloring.
Cousin Sofie also colors, and wonders who is this guy who is taking my picture.
Then they were sittin’ on a park bench.
Then a drive in the country.
We visited The Stables at Mica Meadows, where Anchor House had been doing some equine therapy. The girls were introduced to Major.
Major is very friendly…
…extremely friendly.
There were more horses to visit.
But we’re there to see one horse.
King
This is goodbye to King
Then it’s back to Coeur D’Alene.
After ice cream, it was time for lion imitations.
And Eden did a stand up.
Then it was back to Post Falls.
Eden ends the day with a scooter ride
which is followed by a sunset over the nearby mountains.
